Ray Johnson Memorial

Ray S. Johnson, born on June 4, 1962, was a dedicated business owner, skilled tradesman, and lifelong Kandiyohi County resident. Raised on a farm near Grove City, Ray graduated as a standout student and wrestler from Cosmos High School in 1980. He went on to complete the Machine Tool Trade program at Ridgewater College in 1982, excelling at the top of his class. Ray founded JMD Manufacturing in Willmar, a business he ran successfully for 35 years, starting in the family hog barn. Known for his passion for cars, Ray began collecting Corvettes at 25 and enjoyed designing and building race cars and snowmobiles in his youth. Ray passed away on June 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of determination, skill, and a love for family, community, and classic cars.
